How long is the reading test?

The reading test is 60 minutes long. This is the same for Academic and General Training, and for the paper and computer test.

How many questions are there in the reading test?

There are 40 questions in the reading test. 

​

How many sections are there in the reading test?

​

There are 3 sections in both the Academic and General training test. 

​

Academic test: 3 passages from academic journals. 

Usually passages 1 & 2 have 13 questions, and passage 3 has 14 questions.

General training: 3 sections. 

Section 1: two or three short texts 

Section 2: two texts 

Section 3: one longer text similar to an academic passage.

Where do I put my answers?

​

Paper test: You will have an additional answer sheet. You MUST put your answers there throughout the test. You will not get extra time at the end to transfer your answers.

Computer test: You put your answers directly into the answer box.
